1. That “your team” is the C Suite, not the engineering team.

3. Stop thinking that there’s a single right answer to it for all time or that the right answer is to conform with industry averages.

4. People are not like computers — stop trying to see them in black and white. Listen to understand!

5. What made you successful up to now, won’t make you successful going forward, certainly not beyond leading 10+ engineers.
