How a CTO spends their time: Start-up CTO vs Excutive CTO

Image showing the difference between a startup-cto and an executive CTO and how they each spend their time

A start-up CTO role is essentially a Lead Engineer role.

An Executive CTO is a technologist who knows that their tech expertise is just ONE ASPECT of the value they bring to a business.

The journey from startup CTO to an Executive CTO is very difficult to navigate because:

- you don’t know where you are in this journey (there are multiple stages between startup CTO and Executive CTO)

- you don’t know what kind of CTO you want to be

- you don’t know what kind of CTO roles you would be adding most value to.

In order to identify those things, you need a framework to work through and guidance how to get to identify where you are and where you want to go.

I’m starting 3 cohorts for aspiring, ambitious and accomplished CTOs who want to crack this nut.
