Look at everything you are planning to do today - meetings, alone work at the computer, planning, preparing a presentation, etc and ask yourself:

How is this moving engineering towards delivering the business goals by the end of this quarter?

If you don't have a quick and straightforward answer, you are likely:

✓ constantly firefighting
✓ the company doesn't have product market fit
✓ you don't have a clear roadmap
✓ you don't have a clear tech strategy aligned with the business strategy
✓ you are "busying" yourself with things that don't move the needle.
