You can’t build a tech strategy without these 7 things:
1. A clear company vision and strategy.
2. Understanding the market and client base you are looking to serve now and into the future.
3. Understanding how the other departments in the business will be delivering the business strategy.
4. Understanding tech trends, security risks and compliance requirements/standards in your industry.
5. Understanding what the competition is doing and what they’re likely to do going forward.
6. Calculating the cost of building your prototype at scale. It’s pointless if it’s brilliant tech but there’s no profit margin when built at scale.
7. Understanding your current engineering department capability and what gaps you’ll need to fill to be able to deliver said strategy.
